What is a Root Canal?
Learn about the standard procedure that relieves pain and restores full function of your teeth.
A root canal is the inner area of a tooth between the pulp and roots. The term also refers to the procedure involving removal and sterilization of contaminated pulp inside the canals of an infected tooth.

Root Canal Procedure
Learn more about the brief, comfortable procedure that can save your natural tooth and relieve your pain.
Our modern technology and Dr. DeLuca’s years of experience performing root canals make them relatively painless and highly effective. If a root canal is prescribed, here’s what you can expect throughout the process.
Step 1. First, we schedule a pre-sedation consultation to review your specific needs and determine the choice of sedation that’s best for you.
Step 2. Once Dr. DeLuca has discussed the best option for your procedure, we make sure you’re comfortable from the time you arrive until the time you return home after your appointment.
Step 3. Dr. DeLuca will begin by creating a small opening in the top enamel of your tooth. This reveals the infected pulp and makes it easy for her to clean out the damaged canals.
Step 4. After the affected area has been cleaned out, the canals are sterilized to prevent further infection.
Step 5. To wrap up the procedure and help your teeth function and look natural, Dr.DeLuca creates a nontoxic porcelain crown to seal the tooth.
After your root canal, you’ll be back to biting and chewing like normal with a smile you can’t wait to show off.
